The extreme weather affecting Europe’s wine harvest has brought 2021 global wine production to what may be its lowest level in 30 years, despite a strong harvest in the Southern Hemisphere.

The OIV estimates that the total global production of wine will reach around 250 million hectoliters (within a range of 247 to 253 Mhl) in the year 2022. This number is very close to the harvest in the year 2017 of 247 Mhl, which was the smallest volume made in over twenty years. The year 2021 was a drop of 4% compared to the already small production on the year 2020.
